Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our speech-language therapy sessions for students in Pre-K through 2nd grade in both general education and self-contained classrooms.\r\n\r\nThe technology has been especially helpful in giving students engaging and accessible ways to learn. We have been using the iPad for programs such as Ultimate SLP, TouchChat AAC, and articulation and language apps. These tools allow students to practice speech and language skills in interactive ways while increasing motivation, participation, and turn-taking. For some of my students with limited verbal speech or emerging spoken language, the AAC features provide an important way to express themselves and participate more independently. \r\n\r\nThe books have also been wonderful. I incorporate reading into almost all of my therapy sessions, and the bilingual books have been especially valuable for my Spanish-speaking students by exposing them to literacy in their home language. Estrellita Donde Estas? has been a favorite. One special moment this year was seeing a student who once said, \"No book,\" now independently initiates the song we sing before reading together. Moments like that make this work incredibly rewarding.\r\n \r\nThe games and play materials have brought students together in joyful ways. Chutes and Ladders and Guess Who have been amazing for building turn-taking, asking questions, describing, and practicing social-pragmatic skills. The dolls have also made a big difference—one student now eagerly looks for the doll each session, which helps him engage with me and participate in therapy. \r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, my students are learning to communicate while having fun, expressing themselves, and growing in confidence. Thank you for believing in them and helping provide tools that support their growth and success.","fullyFundedDate":1769451716549,"projectUrl":"project/play-books-and-aac-for-growing-communi/9968988/","projectTitle":"Play, Books, and AAC for Growing Communicators","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ilcia (CF, Speech-Language Pathologist)","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10389836"},{"teacherId":10231306,"projectId":9662901,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our library has become a joyful, welcoming space where students read with confidence and excitement. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in my speech-language therapy space.\r\n\r\nAs a Speech-Language Pathologist, I work with students across multiple grade levels, ability levels, and communication needs. Because therapy sessions are often short and highly individualized, organization is critical. The five-tier desk tray organizer allows me to sort materials by skill area (articulation, language, social communication, AAC, etc.) and by group. This means I can quickly transition between students and maximize every minute of therapy time.\r\n\r\nThe mesh zipper pouches have been especially helpful for organizing student-specific materials. Many of my students benefit from having consistent, clearly contained resources—visual supports, cue cards, mini books, and task materials—ready for them each session. \r\n\r\nA well-organized environment reduces cognitive overload and supports clearer thinking and communication. Two hundred bulbs were planted by about eighty students. Most of my students live in the heart of the city and this has been their first gardening experience. \r\n\r\nOne comment that warms my heart came from one of my fifth-grade students. He said, \"I will be able to see our tulips bloom every year because I live right down the street and walk past to go to the grocery store.\" Another student is looking forward to showing her mom exactly where she planted her red tulips. She said, \"Esperanza had a hard job, planting takes work and knowing when and how to plant to get results.\" After our planting project was completed, I purchased some bulbs and glass containers. I stored the bulbs in a cold dark place and am now putting them in glass containers so my students will be able to take some home over spring break to their families.","fullyFundedDate":1761743914187,"projectUrl":"project/blossoming-into-the-school-year/9747558/","projectTitle":"Blossoming Into The School Year","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Burke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6436620_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1635456798049","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6436620"},{"teacherId":1517776,"projectId":9512980,"letterContent":"I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous donations that helped fund essential materials for our classroom — including flexible seating options, fidgets, and a color printer. I've noticed greater engagement and comfort during lessons. The fidgets have been especially beneficial for students who need sensory input to maintain focus, allowing them to feel more confident and included. Students are always excited at the start of each lesson as they now have the option for a seat that works best for them and a fidget that will help them maintain focus. I must share that watching students delight in being able to select a flavor from a variety of choices is one of the highlights of my school year. \r\nThis machine is bringing smiles to the entire school. A few weeks after their science lesson the shaved ice machine was pulled out for the fall festival for two grades on two different floors. Administration has requested the machine to be a station during our school's literacy night. I found the book Dragons Don't Eat Snow Cones and will read this delightful book that conveys the message to not give up at this station.
