This project has already made a meaningful difference in our school community, and my students feel its impact every time they walk into the library or down our hallways. With over 3,000 students on campus, we are constantly showcasing research projects, artwork, poems, and class-created materials. Before this project, we struggled with an older machine that jammed, overheated, or produced uneven results—making it difficult to protect and display student work in a way that truly honored their effort.\r\n\r\nNow, thanks to you, we can laminate student creations quickly, cleanly, and reliably. Students are genuinely excited when they see their work preserved and displayed professionally. Several have told me it \"feels official\" or \"like something people will actually stop and read.\" Having a laminator that works every time means I can say yes more often—to teachers who want reusable classroom materials, to clubs making signage, and to students who want their projects displayed proudly and safely.\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us turn our school into a gallery of student learning—where every voice can be seen, valued, and celebrated. Before this project, our 12-year-old computer frequently froze or crashed, slowing everything from book checkouts to research help. Now, with a fast, reliable device at our front desk, students can get immediate support with finding books, accessing databases, and navigating digital resources. It has truly streamlined the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our library running, allowing me to spend more time directly helping students learn, explore, and create.\r\n\r\nWhat has surprised me most is how excited students are about the technology itself. The iMac's large, bright screen has become a natural gathering point—students crowd around it to look up titles, research authors, or get help accessing JSTOR or Gale for their projects. For many of our students, especially those who don't have access to a computer at home, this is the fastest and most powerful device they've ever used. They notice the speed, the clarity, and the ease of use immediately, and they love that the library feels more modern and welcoming because of it.\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting our students and helping us create a library where technology enhances curiosity, connection, and learning. The new books you helped fund feature characters with disabilities and neurodiversity, which has sparked meaningful conversations about empathy, representation, and what it means to truly see yourself reflected in a story. These books have allowed my students to explore complex themes such as identity, resilience, and friendship while learning to appreciate perspectives different from their own.\r\n\r\nIn our library, reading is both personal and communal. Students browse independently for pleasure reads, participate in book club discussions, and often recommend titles to one another. Since adding these new books, I've noticed students pausing to read the back covers, sharing excited comments like, \"I've never read a book with a deaf main character before.\" These moments show how representation can make reading feel more relevant and affirming.\r\n\r\n For all of our readers, these stories have opened windows into new worlds and perspectives, helping them build empathy and compassion that extend far beyond the page.","fullyFundedDate":1758422186631,"projectUrl":"project/stories-for-every-body-and-mind/9725480/","projectTitle":"Stories for Every Body and Mind","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hussenet","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8757100_orig.jpg?crop=524,525,x0,y36&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665006327167","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8757100"},{"teacherId":4785013,"projectId":8686226,"letterContent":"Thank you so, very much for your generous donation of books about sustainability. Previously we had no reliable way to record podcasts, one of our core functions as a journalism class. Students had to bring their own PC or Macs from home, hoping that they had the correct connections for our audio equipment, and then they would record their work. If that student was absent or otherwise busy, there was no way to pick up a project where it was left off; confusion was the order of the day for our recording team.\r\n\r\nThis is where your contribution has benefitted us so much. We now have one dedicated, central, guaranteed-to-work computer for all of our multimedia needs. Want to record a podcast? No problem. Want to edit a video story? Done. Your support has made a tangible difference in our students' learning experience.\r\n\r\nSpecifically, the materials you helped us acquire have been invaluable. The safety goggles are essential for ensuring our students' safety during hands-on lab activities, allowing them to confidently explore scientific concepts. The digital thermometers have proven crucial in our investigations of yeast activity and decomposition, as well as our study of CO2 levels and temperature changes. Students were able to gather precise data and draw meaningful conclusions, enriching their understanding of these processes. The weighing scale has been instrumental in our carrot osmosis lab and yeast investigation lab, enabling students to accurately measure changes in mass and observe the effects of various factors. Additionally, the calculators have been essential tools for our students to develop their mathematical and computational skills while working with lab data, creating graphs, and performing data analysis.\r\n\r\nThese resources have transformed our classroom into a dynamic, inquiry-based learning environment.
