Sometimes students privately tell me that they are hungry or that they did not get to eat earlier in the day. When this happens, they know they are welcome to have a treat without feeling embarrassed or having to explain their situation in front of others. Meeting this basic need helps students feel more comfortable and allows them to focus more effectively on classroom activities.\r\n\r\nStudents were very happy and excited when they first saw the boxes of treats arrive. They immediately understood that the snacks were there for them and appreciated having something available when they needed it. Their reactions showed me that even a small gesture can make students feel noticed, supported, and valued.\r\n\r\nI am also excited to distribute the gloves once the colder season begins. Many students arrive at school early in the morning when temperatures are low, so having warm gloves available will provide both comfort and practical support. Together, the snacks and gloves will allow me to respond to students' needs in a thoughtful and caring way.\r\n\r\nMaking my students feel special and appreciated contributes to a positive classroom community. We are using them as small prizes to motivate students, recognize their effort, and celebrate their accomplishments. Although the treats may seem like a simple resource, they have become a meaningful way to encourage participation and make learning more enjoyable for my students.\r\n\r\nOne of the main ways we use the treats is during digital review games. These games allow students to practice important vocabulary and grammar concepts in an interactive and engaging format. Students work individually or in teams to answer questions, review recently learned material, and demonstrate their understanding. The winners receive a treat as a prize. Knowing that they have an opportunity to earn a delicious snack encourages students to participate actively, remain focused, and try their best throughout the activity.\r\n\r\nThe treats are not reserved only for students who win games. I also use them to recognize improvement, perseverance, and other classroom accomplishments. For example, a student might receive a treat after improving in vocabulary, speaking more confidently in Spanish, completing a challenging assignment, or demonstrating noticeable growth in a particular skill. This helps students understand that success is not limited to earning the highest score. Their effort, progress, and willingness to continue learning are also important and deserve to be celebrated.\r\n\r\nThe students were very happy when they first saw the boxes of treats arrive. Their faces immediately showed excitement, and they were curious to know when and how the snacks would be used. Since then, they frequently ask if we can play a vocabulary game because they want another opportunity to practice, compete, and possibly earn a snack. It is wonderful to see students requesting an academic activity and becoming enthusiastic about reviewing vocabulary.\r\n\r\nOne memorable classroom moment occurred when students asked to play a review game before an assessment. They were eager to demonstrate what they knew and encouraged their teammates throughout the activity. Even students who are sometimes hesitant to participate became more involved. The treats added a fun incentive, but the most rewarding part was watching students collaborate, take academic risks, and feel proud when they answered correctly. The activity helped transform review into a positive classroom experience.\r\n\r\nThese resources have also helped me create an environment in which students feel recognized and appreciated. A small reward can have a powerful effect, especially for a student who has worked hard to improve or who is beginning to develop confidence in a new language. Receiving a treat tells students that their effort has been noticed and that their progress matters.\r\n\r\nI am sincerely grateful for the generosity that made these treats available to my students. They are helping us celebrate learning, encourage participation, and build a positive classroom community.
