We are based in California's Central Valley. Many of my students come from a low socio-economic background yet also come from diverse areas. Some students live in rural migrant camps whose parents work in fields while others live in an almost urban setting. Despite their situation, these students want to learn and feel the pride of accomplishment. The more we provide opportunities for students to improve their skills and possibly gain new ones, the more apt they are to feel better about themselves and their education. Once we plant the seed of progress and accomplishment, we open doors to a different thought process and possibly a different future; one where they can do anything to which they put their mind, energy and passion.
