Thanks to your support, my students were able to get their hands on professional dissection tools and explore the anatomy of a shark, rabbit, and snake up close — experiences that no textbook page could ever replicate. Watching their eyes light up as they made real discoveries in real specimens was a reminder of exactly why hands-on science matters. These labs would have simply been impossible without you, and every student in my classroom has you to thank for that.\r\nYour donations also made possible two truly memorable activities: a thermometer lab and a blood typing kit investigation — complete with the mystery of figuring out who the father is! Students were completely hooked, channeling their inner scientists as they analyzed blood type data to solve a real-world genetics puzzle. The excitement, the debates, and the \"aha!\" moments that filled the room that day are something my students will carry with them long after the school year ends. You didn't just fund supplies — you funded curiosity, confidence, and a love of science. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1763474839283,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-lab-deep-dive/9621742/","projectTitle":"Hands on Lab Deep Dive","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kim","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3833625_orig.jpg?crop=401,401,x78,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763501223723","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3833625"},{"teacherId":6868277,"projectId":9946287,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. Thanks to your support, I was able to receive a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, which will allow me to purchase much-needed lesson plans, activities, and resources to enhance the learning experience for my high school students.\r\n\r\nOne of the lessons I was able to purchase included a project in which students had to create a \"body biography\" as a way to help analyze a character from their independent reading novels. They were given a silhouette of a body that they had to turn into their character, incorporating symbols that represent their character's beliefs, motivations, and growth. This was a fun take on a traditional character analysis and allowed students an opportunity to show their creative sides.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and support.","fullyFundedDate":1766439574223,"projectUrl":"project/students-benefit-when-teachers-pay-teach/9946287/","projectTitle":"Students Benefit When Teachers Pay Teachers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Clemans","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6868277"},{"teacherId":507100,"projectId":9652226,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the donation to our project. I read the novel with seniors who were approaching graduation and it was a great way to allow them to reflect back on how the choices they made at the start of their high school career have influenced where they are now. It also opened the door for them to start thinking about how, going forward as adults, their choices are going to have larger and larger consequences on both their own and other people's lives.\r\n\r\nThis was a great teaching opportunity and I thank you for making it possible for both my students and myself.","fullyFundedDate":1740692623742,"projectUrl":"project/two-paths-one-story-reading-the-other/8992935/","projectTitle":"Two Paths, One Story: Reading The Other Wes Moore","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Clemans","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6868277"},{"teacherId":3833625,"projectId":8164969,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution, which made it possible for me to purchase dissection specimens, a microscope camera, and classroom binders. These resources brought our biology curriculum to life in ways that deeply engaged and excited my students. The binders helped us stay organized throughout the year, while the microscope camera allowed students to clearly view and learn how to adjust and focus on slides like onion root tips, wet mounts, and smear samples—skills that are essential for foundational scientific learning.\r\n\r\nThe highlight for many students was the opportunity to dissect a wide variety of specimens, including snakes and iguanas, which were an exciting addition to our existing collection of sharks, rats, minks, and frogs. These hands-on labs not only sparked curiosity but also gave students the experience of working like real scientists. They culminated their learning with a group comparative anatomy project as their final exam, applying what they observed and learned through these incredible labs. While learning about plate tectonics, students were able to sketch and label diagrams related to the 3 main boundaries. Students were also able to answer questions in short low-stakes informal assessments. Students particularly enjoy being able to use whiteboards in lieu of discussion or bookwork. \r\n\r\nStudents initially reacted very appreciatively, as they were happy to have whiteboards that did not have holes in them, nor graffiti. Students really appreciated the double sided feature of the boards. Next year. Students will be able to start the year with these nice and shiny whiteboards as they work to improve their ability to participate in class discussion with regards to physical science.
