I read the novel with seniors who were approaching graduation and it was a great way to allow them to reflect back on how the choices they made at the start of their high school career have influenced where they are now. It also opened the door for them to start thinking about how, going forward as adults, their choices are going to have larger and larger consequences on both their own and other people's lives.\r\n\r\nThis was a great teaching opportunity and I thank you for making it possible for both my students and myself.","fullyFundedDate":1740692623742,"projectUrl":"project/two-paths-one-story-reading-the-other/8992935/","projectTitle":"Two Paths, One Story: Reading The Other Wes Moore","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Clemans","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6868277"},{"teacherId":3833625,"projectId":8164969,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution, which made it possible for me to purchase dissection specimens, a microscope camera, and classroom binders. These resources brought our biology curriculum to life in ways that deeply engaged and excited my students. The binders helped us stay organized throughout the year, while the microscope camera allowed students to clearly view and learn how to adjust and focus on slides like onion root tips, wet mounts, and smear samples—skills that are essential for foundational scientific learning.\r\n\r\nThe highlight for many students was the opportunity to dissect a wide variety of specimens, including snakes and iguanas, which were an exciting addition to our existing collection of sharks, rats, minks, and frogs. These hands-on labs not only sparked curiosity but also gave students the experience of working like real scientists. They culminated their learning with a group comparative anatomy project as their final exam, applying what they observed and learned through these incredible labs. Your donation made all of this possible, and I am so grateful for the joyful, meaningful impact it had on my students' education.","fullyFundedDate":1715726608039,"projectUrl":"project/making-biology-come-alive/8164969/","projectTitle":"Making Biology Come Alive!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kim","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3833625_orig.jpg?crop=401,401,x78,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763501223723","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3833625"},{"teacherId":9845907,"projectId":9074432,"letterContent":"My students and I are extremely grateful for the kindness of the community. Using these new whiteboards, my students have been able to further improve their ability to demonstrate their knowledge and skill gains, as well as exercise a bit of artistic freedom. While learning about plate tectonics, students were able to sketch and label diagrams related to the 3 main boundaries. Students were also able to answer questions in short low-stakes informal assessments. Students particularly enjoy being able to use whiteboards in lieu of discussion or bookwork. \r\n\r\nStudents initially reacted very appreciatively, as they were happy to have whiteboards that did not have holes in them, nor graffiti. Students really appreciated the double sided feature of the boards. Next year. Students will be able to start the year with these nice and shiny whiteboards as they work to improve their ability to participate in class discussion with regards to physical science. Thank you so much for your contributions to both my class, and the students' education.","fullyFundedDate":1739706353493,"projectUrl":"project/older-whiteboards-requesting-retirement/9074432/","projectTitle":"Older Whiteboards Requesting Retirement","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9845907_orig.jpg?crop=921,921,x144,y334&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739283365936","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9845907"},{"teacherId":4752140,"projectId":8765779,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations our students are able to gain hands-on experience with several body systems in our human body systems unit. Students have been able to specifically use the skeleton in identification of various bones, ligaments and tendons as well as use it as a prop in their group presentations.\r\n\r\nStudents were excited to use the skeleton in their project presentations as well as to identify bone locations and types in their own bodies. Many of our kids are more tactile learners and being able to actually touch and manipulate the skeletal bones and joints was a big hit with them. Our environmental science class made good use of the water testing kits during the creation of our eco columns, a project involving the creation of small biomes in 2 liter bottles.\r\n\r\nThe second semester will also benefit from your contributions.
