My students need to improve their reading skills in their heritage language. In order for them to succeed in acquiring and improving their skills, they need access to a variety of books written in their heritage language. Here at our High School, there are not enough Spanish books for our Spanish speaking students. My own personal library is also very limited and lacks variety. By funding the project, the students will have a variety of level books in their language which will increase their motivation to read in their language. Ultimately, if the students reading time is increased their literacy skills will also increase and the skills are able to transfer to their other academic classes.
