My students have been so excited to explore our new materials and use them during hands-on learning and play. The magnetic animals encourage students to create stories, sort and match animals, and use their imaginations while building language and social skills. The wooden play food gives students opportunities to practice cutting, develop fine-motor skills, and work together during pretend play. Our colorful scarves bring music and movement to life as students dance, follow rhythms, and express themselves creatively.\r\n\r\nSeeing my students explore these materials, share ideas, and learn alongside their friends is a wonderful reminder of how much meaningful learning happens through play. These experiences will help students strengthen important developmental skills, build confidence, and develop positive relationships with their classmates.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping make our classroom a place where curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning can flourish. This week, There Was an Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything is our book study! We are noticing the author's use of repeated words and phrases, making predictions about what might happen next, and studying how the illustrator uses facial expressions to show emotions. We are also identifying the setting and talking about how the illustrations help us understand the story. We will extend the story through art by creating our own \"not afraid of anything\" characters and illustrating what they might encounter along their adventure.\r\n\r\nReading in TK is an interactive experience that often takes us beyond the book itself. When we read We're Going on a Leaf Hunt, we connected the story to our five senses science unit and headed outside to explore real leaves. Students drew pictures and recorded what they saw, heard, smelled, and felt during our leaf hunt. We then connected this new experience to a familiar story, Leaf Man, and used the leaves we collected to build our own leaf people. These experiences help children understand that books can inspire questions, investigations, creativity, and real-world connections—and that is what makes reading so exciting in TK!","fullyFundedDate":1778505067265,"projectUrl":"project/tk-book-studies-hands-on-supplies/10163664/","projectTitle":"TK Book Studies + Hands-On Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lexi Sutton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8371691_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1647217681987","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8371691"},{"teacherId":9652805,"projectId":9641434,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my students have been able to experience something truly special—many of them for the very first time. Using the recorders and beginner materials you provided, students have been learning how to read music, practice consistently, and work together as a musical team.\r\n\r\nOne of our proudest moments was performing at our school's Synergy Assembly, where we celebrate student achievements and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. My class represented Habit 7, and they performed \"Eye of the Tiger\" in front of over 500 guests, including parents, family members, staff, and fellow students. They also had the opportunity to perform during our Month of the Military Child assembly, making the experience even more meaningful for our school community.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first received their instruments, they were absolutely over the moon. Many had never held an instrument before, and they were so excited not only to learn, but to have a high-quality recorder of their own. All of my students from military will be able to continue practicing and enjoying music even if they relocate to a new base. That sense of ownership and continuity is incredibly powerful.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue building our skills by learning new songs, exploring rhythm and ensemble playing. My goal is to help students grow not only as musicians, but as confident individuals who are willing to try new things, collaborate with others, and share their talents with an audience.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping bring music, joy, and confidence into our classroom.
