Because of your donations, new reading books, engaging reading games, and innovative learning tools that are already making a meaningful difference in our students' daily learning experiences.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first walked into the classroom and saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate. Their eyes lit up as they explored the boxes of the new games and eagerly asked when we would be playing them. The new books were quickly gathered into little hands, and many students couldn't wait to flip through the pages and begin reading together. The reading games sparked instant curiosity and engagement, and students were thrilled to use them during our literacy centers.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun incorporating these resources into our daily routine. Our new books are being used during free reading time, allowing students to practice important early literacy skills like letter recognition, identifying sounds, and building simple words. The reading games have become a favorite activity during literacy centers, helping students strengthen their phonics and word-building skills in a fun and interactive ways. They are also building teamwork and very important social skills as they work together playing them! \r\n\r\nOne special moment happened during our literacy centers this week. A group of students gathered around one of the new reading games where they matched letters to their beginning sounds. One student who has been working very hard on recognizing letter sounds proudly matched several letters correctly and excitedly said, \"I did it!\" The other students cheered and wanted to try too. It was a wonderful reminder of how engaging materials can build both confidence and joy in learning.\r\n\r\nI plan to continue to build our reading classroom with shelves full of books and games that are hands on learning opportunities for all the little readers I get the honor to teach!","fullyFundedDate":1765842430954,"projectUrl":"project/once-upon-a-kindergarten-classroom/9835158/","projectTitle":"Once Upon a Kindergarten Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mitchell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8504010_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768358646979","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8504010"},{"teacherId":10314283,"projectId":9834309,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the resources donated to my project! I work with early elementary students and having a variety of engaging resources and activities is imperative to promote a positive learning environment. \r\n In this package, I was able to receive a lot of books that I have used for classroom lessons and small group counseling sessions. Books are a great way to appropriately explain necessary social emotional skills such as friendships, positive choices, and calming techniques. I also received books about grief and how to explain grief to children, which has been incredibly helpful. It can be a heavy topic that is unique to each person, and these books have been a great resource. Additionally, some of my favorite books are the Big Cheese and the Couch potato. Those stories are such a fun way to teach work ethic and confidence. I also absolutely love the social skills board game to teach manners, emotions, friendship, and empathy. Everything has been put to great use and has made learning fun, even when the topics can be heavy. I am incredibly grateful for these resources and your donations! My students have been using the magnetic letter boards daily to build, segment, and read words during small-group instruction. They love manipulating the letters to create new words and noticing how changing one sound can change an entire word. The snap tiles have also been a huge hit for practicing sight words, as students enjoy snapping words together and confidently reading them aloud once completed.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were beyond excited to explore everything right away. They were especially drawn to the colorful fluency passages, matching picture sentence strips, and the two new comfy seats. The sentence strips paired with pictures have been incredibly helpful for supporting decoding and comprehension, allowing students to blend words and immediately connect them to meaning. The comfy seats have quickly become a favorite spot for partner reading, giving students a comfortable, inviting space to read together, practice fluency, and build confidence.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these resources to strengthen phonics, sight word recognition, and reading fluency through targeted games, word-building activities, partner reading, and repeated reading practice.
