Reading has become a lost art, and many people do not enjoy it like they used to. In our classroom, our library has been one of our most used resources every day as we encourage our students to spend time with books as they venture through the learning how to read process. These benches will provide not only extra storage spaces for our books, whisper phones (tool used for students to read to themselves and hear the sounds they are saying) and reading buddies (stuffed animals) for our students to read to, but it would also provide a cozy and comfortable reading area for them to read.
We want to encourage reading for our students by providing them with more options of places to read that are cool, cozy, and comfortable. Reading in the same space everyday can become redundant and less interesting, but having these benches will help enhance their reading experiences. The bins will allow for more organization of our library books and reading tools to help keep them safe.
We are excited to allow more options for our students to read in our class daily. With this project, we are hoping to continue to bring the love of reading and the enjoyment into the classroom which will hopefully continue on throughout their lives.
