The first thing I introduced to my students was the balance turtles. This class is in love with playing the floor is lava and these turtles provided the missing piece to the game. While playing this game the students are learning to take turns, listen for directions and work on their core strength as well as balance skills. All which are skills they are going to need for reading and writing. The playdough toys were immediately put out in our art center for students to work on their fine motor muscles. They were squeezing, grabbing, pushing and pulling while creating masterpieces. With this donation, we have gained valuable storage space and been able to keep our classroom much more organized! Not only does that mean that we now have room for more materials and activities to engage the young minds, but it also means that we have been able to remove the source of many behaviors. When our materials were stacked in the hallway, they were distracting and invited many little hands to touch when they should have been walking or lining up.
