The first thing I introduced to my students was the balance turtles. This class is in love with playing the floor is lava and these turtles provided the missing piece to the game. While playing this game the students are learning to take turns, listen for directions and work on their core strength as well as balance skills. All which are skills they are going to need for reading and writing. The playdough toys were immediately put out in our art center for students to work on their fine motor muscles. They were squeezing, grabbing, pushing and pulling while creating masterpieces. Foam place value discs helped students build, break apart, and regroup numbers, strengthening their number sense and confidence.\r\n\r\nProtractors and magnetic tiles transformed abstract geometry concepts into meaningful learning experiences. Students measured angles and area. These tools allowed students to learn by doing, which made challenging math concepts more accessible to all learners. As a result, student engagement increased, math conversations became richer, and students were eager to participate.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, math truly became \"Math Madness\" in the best way—active, joyful, and meaningful.
