Often in schools we ask students to sit at tables or desks for long periods of time, but in kindergarten this is not realistic. Having lap desks allows students to be able to sit comfortably while being able to move around and get their wiggles out. Flexible seating options give little ones the ability to focus on their learning instead of channeling their energy into trying to sit still. IN kindergarten students learn how to control their bodies and develop gross motor skills and having a classroom where they are able to freely move allows them to develop these critical skills. Often it is very difficult for students with disabilities such as autism to work at a desk surrounded by other students, flexible seating options give these students the ability to take these lap desks and find a quiet comfy spot in the classroom to work.
