As a result, part of the funding was used to create a more organized Chromebook charging and storage station in our classroom. The organizers, cable clips, and accessories helped create a system that students could use independently to retrieve, store, and charge their devices. It may seem like a small change, but it gave students more ownership and responsibility while making technology easier to access throughout the day.\r\n\r\nAlthough a full set of tablets was no longer available, we were able to purchase one tablet that became an interactive learning center for sight word practice, instructional videos, and other digital activities. We also expanded the technology resources available through students' Clever accounts so they could continue accessing engaging content during centers and independent work time.\r\n\r\nWith the remaining funds, we purchased a green screen and ring light, which quickly became one of my students' favorite additions to our classroom. We partnered with an older grade level and used the equipment to bring our writing to life. Students worked through the writing process, published their pieces, and recorded themselves reading their work on camera. Seeing themselves as published authors was incredibly exciting and gave them a sense of pride in their learning. Since then, we've also used the equipment for special projects and classroom celebrations.\r\n\r\nI sincerely apologize for the delay in sending this note of appreciation. The ordering delays and changes to the project made implementation take longer than expected, but the end result was a classroom full of new opportunities for learning, creativity, and independence.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity, flexibility, and patience. While this project didn't unfold exactly as originally planned, it ultimately gave my students exactly what they needed. Your support helped create meaningful learning experiences that would not have been possible otherwise, and the impact will continue to be felt by many classes to come.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for investing in my students and believing in the power of education. The new resources you provided have helped my students stay more engaged, focused, and excited about their learning. Many people think of school supplies as simple tools, but in our room they are essential for helping students express their thinking, organize their ideas, and stay motivated throughout the day. When students have what they need right in front of them, they are far more willing to take risks, participate, and push through challenging work.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for my students is having materials that make learning feel fresh and accessible. Whether they are using colorful tools to represent math thinking, organizing their work more clearly, or having supplies readily available instead of waiting or sharing, it has created a smoother and more confident learning environment. I've noticed students who are usually hesitant are now more willing to participate because they feel prepared and included.\r\n\r\nThere are a few students in particular who have really warmed to these new resources. One student who typically struggles with focus now takes pride in organizing their work neatly and staying on task longer than before. Another student who rarely volunteered to share is now more confident because the tools help them structure their thinking. These small shifts have added up to a big change in classroom culture—students feel capable, supported, and proud of their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1778068701403,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-learning-with-teacher-created/10069284/","projectTitle":"Empowering Learning with Teacher-Created Resources Lunar New Year","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Picciano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8349049"},{"teacherId":9366251,"projectId":10038524,"letterContent":"Thank you, again, for your very generous donations to our classroom! My developing readers are building immense confidence with the accessible language of Dragons and Marshmallows and Beezus and Ramona, while The Wild Robot and Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy have pushed my advanced readers with rich vocabulary and deep, complex themes. Having multiple copies of each title has allowed us to launch independent book clubs and guided reading groups, sparking meaningful, student-led conversations that are actively building their comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking skills.\r\nThe impact of this project goes far beyond standard instruction; it has fostered a deep sense of empathy, resilience, and global perspective in our classroom. Because of your generosity, our pre-k students now have a brand new kitchen and supermarket area in our classroom. These materials have quickly become one of the most loved and engaging parts of our day.\r\n\r\nThe students were beyond excited when they first saw the new dramatic play center. Their faces lit up as they explored the kitchen, pretended to cook meals, stocked the grocery shelves, and took turns being cashiers and shoppers. Many of our students have autism and benefit greatly from hands-on, play-based learning opportunities. These materials have helped encourage communication, social interaction, turn-taking, problem-solving, and imaginative play in meaningful and natural ways.\r\n\r\nWe use the dramatic play area daily during centers and structured social learning activities. One special moment was watching students who are typically hesitant to interact begin engaging with peers through pretend grocery shopping and cooking together. It has truly become a space where learning and joy come together.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our classroom lessons, we will be incorporating the kitchen and supermarket into our community helper, nutrition, and life skills units. Students will practice real-world skills such as identifying foods, sorting items, counting money, following simple recipes, and engaging in cooperative play with classmates.
