I even caught a few of the kids enjoying that \"new crayon smell!\"\r\n\r\nWe have been using our new play dough to play \"smash a sound!\" We split the dough into 4 little balls, then I give them a word with four sounds like \"snap.\" They smash the dough down as they say each sound- and they love it! Their spelling tests today showed how much that silly game helped them to hear the sounds in big words!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for investing in my littles! However, as middle school students, hygiene is such an important thing that truly impacts their self confidence. While they don't necessarily realize the effort it takes to acquire these items, I know that it's a comfort to them to be able to know they have someplace they can go to get their needs met. \r\n\r\nIn addition to hygiene products, the snacks have been a game changer in my office in regards to helping to regulate our students. As a school counselor, I didn't show my students these items all at once, but I see their faces light up when they've come to me in a negative mood, and once we've determined that hunger is a factor, to provide something that helps them get back on track and ready to face the rest of the school day. \r\n\r\nI don't have a traditional classroom structure like many individuals on Donors Choose, but the impact of your generosity is well felt in my office. These items have helped my office be a safe place where students can come and get their needs met without shame or judgement from others. It's more discreet and less flashy than some projects, but that doesn't negate the way it has helped and supported my students.
