The kitchen set has encouraged imaginative play, cooperation, communication, and problem-solving as students pretend to cook, serve meals, and work together.\r\n\r\nOur new writing center has also provided students with a fun and meaningful way to practice their writing skills. Students are learning that writing has a purpose as they create menus, write grocery lists, and use their imaginations. I love seeing them connect literacy skills to their play while building confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nAs we continue throughout the school year, we will use these materials to create new learning experiences that strengthen creativity, social skills, and early literacy. Back in August, when they first came into my room, their eyes immediately lit up with how the space was decorated. They ran to their flags and said, oh you have Renoldo, oh you have Columbia. One student, from Turkey beamed, and said, \" You have my flag!\" They also inquire about other flags and countries that they represent. \r\n\r\nThe rug additionally, added the right amount of warmth and brightness that this classroom needed. Now, this space is cheery and full of my student's culture! This has helped me create an inviting space for students to learn and continues to become a space where they feel proud of themselves. The rug has enabled me to do partner activities that have helped improve their speaking and listening skills because they can sit on the floor comfortably and share their ideas with their partners. \r\n\r\nNot pictured were the collaboration posters that we make weekly with the poster boards. These help students synthesize their learning from the unit with a partner and encompass writing, speaking, and listening skills. \r\n\r\nI cannot say thank you enough for donating to my creating cozy space project! What started as a blank canvas has become a colorful and welcoming space where my students can feel excited to learn, create, and feel at home. \r\nI have always wanted my classroom to be a safe space for my students, and it has meant so much to see it become that for so many of them. I am incredibly grateful for your generosity and support in helping make this possible. Watching my students walk into the art room excited to create has become a daily reminder of my purpose, my passion, and why I became a teacher in the first place.\r\nOne of my favorite additions has been the HDMI transmitter! I love that I can now sit and demonstrate from different areas of the classroom while projecting my artwork onto our screen. It has made it so much easier for me to see and connect with my students while teaching, and they can still follow along and see exactly what I am creating. The hard drive and SD card have also been so helpful because I can record and store my art demonstrations and videos without having to worry about running out of storage on my computer. I can also replay these videos whenever my students need a little refresher or want to see a technique again. The new water cups have also made painting so much easier! Each student can now have their own water cup, giving everyone the opportunity to participate without having to wait or share. The decorations and additional classroom materials have helped bring those final touches to our art room, making it feel even more special.\r\nIt means so much to know that these materials will continue to make a difference in our art room every day. This has been my first time really incorporating literature into my art lessons, and I have absolutely loved seeing how much my students enjoy it. One of the first books we read was The Day the Crayons Quit, which inspired our very own crayon project! We also read Snippets, a story about paper shapes, which inspired us to recycle paper scraps and use different shapes to create our own paper houses. I am so excited to bring all of our houses together to create a neighborhood filled with unique homes made by each of my students! It has been so rewarding watching my students take what we read together and turn those stories into their own artwork.\r\nThrough these lessons, my students are not only learning about colors, shapes, and different art materials, but they are also making connections between reading and art. I have loved watching them listen to the stories, share their ideas, and get excited about what we are going to create next. So many of my students have enjoyed our read-alouds, and I feel like these moments have given us another opportunity to connect and bond as a classroom.\r\nWhat makes this even more special is knowing that this is just the beginning! I have already selected the books to incorporate into our lessons throughout the rest of the school year. Thank you so much for helping me bring literature into our art room in such a meaningful way.
