Their smiles, curiosity, and eagerness to get started showed just how much they enjoy learning when they can use their hands and imagination.\r\n\r\nStudents painted their rocks with colorful pictures, kind words, and messages that represented caring, friendship, encouragement, and positive feelings. One of the most special parts of the project was taking our learning outdoors for a **kindness rock scavenger hunt**. Students explored the school grounds and carefully placed their rocks near leaves, grass clumps, flowers, trees, and rain spouts. They loved the idea that someone else might discover their rock and receive a little message of kindness from them. It was wonderful to watch them realize that something they created could brighten another person's day.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building on this experience through counseling lessons about **kindness, identifying feelings, empathy, and how our words and actions can affect others**. We will continue looking for opportunities to spread kindness throughout our school community and remind students that even the smallest act can make a big difference. These materials really helped me to set up the classroom in an organized way. As a result, the children can easily see where materials go. The organizer with bins holds the math manipulatives. My students have been great about sorting them out into their correct bins, making clean-up quick and easy. The other plastic bins are spread throughout the classroom. Since they are clear, students can see what is inside of them so they can easily choose what they want to use. \r\nThrough this project, students all received their own pencils and glue. I am glad I was able to give them all new ones for a fresh start to the new year. Adding it to our classroom has made a big difference. It provides extra seating so that children are not squished like they were with the previous tables. The children now have a solid space on which they can draw and write. Then we took them outside and their imaginations ran wild. They made rocket ships, castles, schools, and a bus. They especially liked that they could stand or sit inside of their creations. \r\n\r\nAs the weather is warming up, I know we will be using these a lot more and I love that they can easily be brought outside. They were told they could each find 10. When all were done, we worked on some math skills in which they had to count to 10 and then add or subtract depending on how many they had. \r\n\r\nI showed my students the butterfly kit we received and explained that we will be using it after we return from spring break. They made all kinds of predictions about what we will see and what will happen.
