My School is located in the heart of West Baltimore. Over 85% of our students live at or below the poverty line and receive free and reduced lunch. As my principal says, "It may not always be sunny outside, but it's sunny inside at Gwynns Falls Elementary!" I want to keep that sun shining in the art room for my students. The art room is a place for hands-on learning and a place where students can take chances and experiment with their ideas. When I see my students excitement about different artists and artworks we study, they sometimes ask..."Can we do that?" and as much as I would like to say, yes...that is not always the case. I am hoping to help these bright young artists experience more...I want to be able to say, "Yes! You can create that sculpture! We have everything we need!" "Yes! You can make a vase like the Greek did!" I want to be able to say, YES!
