These supplies have helped make our science classroom safer, cleaner, and much more organized. We now have cleaning supplies readily available at our lab stations, which means students can take responsibility for their own workspaces instead of relying on me to provide everything or having groups crowd around shared supplies. The trash cans, paper towels, disinfecting wipes, hand soap, dustpans, glass disposal boxes, and tissues have all become part of our regular classroom and lab routines.\r\n\r\nMy students were excited to see their lab stations stocked and ready for them, and I have especially enjoyed seeing them take more ownership of our classroom. During hands-on investigations, students know that cleanup is part of the lab—not something that happens after the learning is over. They wipe down their tables, clean up spills and debris, dispose of materials appropriately, and leave their station ready for the next class. Having everything within reach also means we spend less time searching for supplies or waiting for other groups and more time actually doing science.\r\n\r\nThese resources will continue to support us throughout the school year as we move into more complex biology investigations. As students work with microscopes, chemicals, biological materials, and other laboratory equipment, the routines they are developing now will become even more important. Your support has given my students the tools to practice the same habits that scientists use in real laboratories: working safely, staying organized, caring for shared spaces, and taking responsibility for their work. Through close reading, meaningful discussions, reflective writing, and evidence-based analysis, students learned that every person has a story worth hearing and that compassion begins with understanding. The project encouraged students to connect themes from literature to real-world issues, recognize the dignity of every individual, and consider how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
