This technology has become a versatile tool that allows me to better support both general education and special education students throughout the school year.\r\n\r\nAs a school psychologist, I use the iPad to support evaluations, collect behavioral data, and conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs). Having a portable device allows me to collect information more efficiently in different school settings and spend more time observing and supporting students rather than being tied to my desk. The iPad also allows students and caregivers to complete portions of rating scales and questionnaires in a convenient and accessible format.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the iPad gives me another way to provide direct support to students. I can use applications and interactive resources to teach calming and coping strategies, emotional regulation, and social skills. Social stories are particularly valuable for students who need explicit instruction and visual support to understand social situations, expected behaviors, problem-solving, and appropriate ways to respond.\r\n\r\nThe effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have continued to impact students academically, socially, and behaviorally. Many students missed important opportunities for in-person interaction and practice with social skills during critical periods of development. This technology allows me to intentionally provide students with opportunities to learn, practice, and generalize these skills in a way that is engaging and accessible.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided much more than a piece of technology. One special moment was seeing students come in excited and relieved knowing they would have something to eat while working through a challenging math lesson. The snacks have helped improve focus, reduce disruptions, and build a stronger sense of community in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the snacks, they were genuinely excited and grateful. Several students immediately thanked me and asked who made it possible. For many of them, this project showed that people they have never met still care about their success and well-being.
