Students need lots of support to develop math skills and increase their confidence. Students will use these educational resources with sewing machines and thread to develop skills and knowledge for careers in STEM and increase their confidence in math as they use the books to learn more about managing emotions and the STEM universe. Students will learn about famous scientists like Dr. Temple Grandin, Raye Montague, Mae Jemison, Lonnie Johnson and Charles Henry. They will also learn about social emotional learning with the How to Train Your Dragon books about Bullying and Self affirmations and Life Lessons from a Doggie.
Students will be developing their STEM skills and learning to measure fabric, make alterations, disassemble and reassemble cloths to repurpose and redesign helping them to understand a circular economy and sustainability as well as building their capacity for community and resilience.
These books and sewing machines will give students access and equitable opportunity to build STEM skills.
