Absences happen all the time, and it is important to have a procedure for how to deal with these absences. As an 8th grade teacher, my students are responsible, and willing to work, but it often takes time out of a lesson if they have to ask me what they missed. A place where they could do it all themselves would grant efficiency to our classroom, and keep our focus on moving forward and learning more. This project provides the supplies to set up an area for just that. Included are folders, markers, tabs, pencils, etc. Fewer distractions for the teacher means less off-task students, and more time learning the content. I don't just teach 8th-grade math, but classes that are advanced for that age group meaning students are even more responsible and capable of catching-up on their own. Our demographic means that many students are absent many days through-out the year, and our school has some of the most advanced students meaning that they are often gone on field trips to provide further opportunities, and real-world education. Sometimes up to half a class can be gone for one reason or another, and dealing with all these absences can really take time out of your day.
