This letter is so overdue, but I sent one when the project was first funded, but it was my first time using Donor's Choose, so I wasn't sure if you received it. \r\n\r\nThank you, so much, for your incredibly generous donation last school year. Getting to allow students to use quality materials makes instruction go easier, and for students to take more pride in their work. Students love using dry erase board and markers instead of pencils and paper, and having actual Exxpo markers made a huge difference--the students were so excited to get to use them instead of the generic ones the school supplies that don't work well and deplete quickly. \r\n\r\nYour selflessness and support made last school year that much more successful and I cannot thank you enough. With these texts, I was able to support both 3rd and 5th grades in my school by creating discussion questions to pair with these books for students to have in-depth conversations about the diverse world around them. One particularly poignant moment was when we were reading a text about Autism and hearing so many students share about the Autistic people in their life whom they care for deeply. Another moment arrived when reading about Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins performing the Capitol Crawl and a student shared about the need for more public understanding of invisible disabilities like his own. These texts, paired with guided instruction, provide a space for students to see themselves and their friends and families represented and help me teach students how to develop a more empathetic worldview. For that, I am deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1743095312493,"projectUrl":"project/diverse-books-for-diverse-students/9206277/","projectTitle":"Diverse Books for Diverse Students","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Mazur","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3700989_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1469637399664","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3700989"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60358","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":817,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":10,"gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":42.1,"schoolId":60358,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Henry Lord Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Henry Lord Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/fall-river-school-district/henry-lord-middle-school/60358"}
