We absolutely love our printer and have already seen such a positive difference in our students' behavior and motivation. The printer allows us to create small, personalized rewards that students can earn for demonstrating positive behaviors, staying focused, completing their work, and meeting classroom expectations. Students are excited to see the different items we create, and having something tangible to work toward has encouraged many of them to work harder and take greater pride in their accomplishments.\r\n\r\nWhat makes this technology especially exciting is that our students get to see an idea become something real right before their eyes. They love watching the printer create different toys, figures, and classroom items layer by layer. Some students have become especially interested in the printing process and look forward to seeing what we will make next. For our students who benefit from positive reinforcement and hands-on learning, the 3D printer has been a fun and meaningful way to encourage engagement, build confidence, and celebrate their successes. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for giving our students access to a technology that makes learning and positive behavior even more exciting!","fullyFundedDate":1779406457833,"projectUrl":"project/printing-positive-choices/10283466/","projectTitle":"Printing Positive Choices","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. T","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9310929_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699679266025","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9310929"},{"teacherId":5678841,"projectId":8002569,"letterContent":"Donors Choose Project Impact: Writing Our Way Through Math\r\n\r\nHow did this project impact your students' learning?\r\nThis project helped my sixth-grade students understand that mathematics is not only about getting the correct answer—it is also about being able to explain how and why an answer makes sense. The writing materials provided through this project gave students opportunities to organize their mathematical thinking, show their steps, use math vocabulary, and explain their reasoning in complete sentences. Writing has been especially valuable when students work collaboratively because they can compare strategies and learn different ways to communicate the same mathematical idea.\r\n\r\nWhat were you able to accomplish in your teaching because of the materials provided?\r\nBecause of these materials, I have been able to incorporate writing into our daily math instruction in a more consistent and engaging way. Students use the materials for math journals, problem-solving activities, sentence frames, collaborative Kagan activities, reflections, and written explanations of their strategies. Rather than simply writing an answer such as \"144,\" students are encouraged to explain, \"I divided each dimension by the fractional unit length to determine how many cubes fit. Then I multiplied the number of cubes in each dimension to find the total.\" This allows me to see students' thinking and identify misconceptions that might not be visible from an answer alone.\r\n\r\nThe materials have also supported my multilingual learners and students who need additional scaffolding. Sentence starters, vocabulary supports, and opportunities to draw and write about mathematics help students develop both their mathematical understanding and academic language.\r\n\r\nA Special Thank-You to An Anonymous Supporter!\r\nI would especially like to thank An Anonymous Supporter for investing in my students and our classroom. Your contribution has helped us create a learning environment where students are encouraged to think, write, explain, and defend their mathematical ideas.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, a pencil and a piece of paper can become much more than school supplies—they become tools students use to make their mathematical thinking visible. Students were excited to see their names and team designs on their shirts, which increased their engagement and sense of responsibility. Using tools like interactive lessons, digital visuals, and student-friendly platforms, I am able to bring concepts to life in ways that go beyond traditional instruction. For example, students can listen to text, watch short videos, and interact with content, which supports a range of learning styles, especially for early readers and English learners. It also allows me to check for understanding in real time, adjust instruction quickly, and provide immediate feedback, helping students stay on track and feel successful.\r\nWhat excites my students most about this new technology is how interactive and hands-on it feels. They are not just passive learners, they are actively participating, creating, and exploring. Whether they are responding to questions, engaging in collaborative activities, or using creative tools to show their thinking, the technology gives them a sense of ownership over their learning. There is a noticeable increase in motivation and focus, especially during lessons that integrate movement, visuals, and student choice.\r\nI have seen particular growth in students who may have previously struggled to stay engaged or express their understanding. Some of my quieter students feel more confident sharing their ideas through digital responses, while others who need more support benefit from features like audio directions and visual scaffolds. Students who thrive with movement and interaction also respond positively, as the technology allows for more dynamic and flexible learning experiences. Overall, this tool is helping create a more inclusive, engaging classroom where all students have the opportunity to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1768193881859,"projectUrl":"project/smart-tools-for-little-learners/10002633/","projectTitle":"Smart Tools for Little Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lang","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9056364"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82938","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":558,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":82,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":43.2,"schoolId":82938,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Halle Hewetson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Halle Hewetson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/clark-county-school-district/halle-hewetson-elementary-school/82938"}
