I am a fifth year kindergarten teacher of twenty-one beautiful and diverse learners whom I adore so much. Each one of them comes from a diverse background and speaks a language other than English at home. They come from hard-working families who care about their education. Over half the population at our school is of the Hispanic race and all receive free lunch. Our students come to kindergarten without knowledge of the alphabet. Many do not attend quality preschool programs where these skills are first introduced. Our work is not easy, but we gladly accept the challenges we face because we believe the work we do here is positively impacting the lives of our students and our community. One thing that unites us all is our commitment to education and our community as a whole. We work together to complete many tasks and we do so in a positive manner.
