Students with severe learning disabilities tend to need assistive technology and tools to help them process the information or learn the skill. This project is to do just that. Our school in located in Las Vegas in a title 1 neighborhood. Title 1 is the largest federally funded educational program. The program provides supplemental funds to school districts to assist schools with large concentrations of low income students to help meet their educational goals. ... A school must be served if the poverty level is 75%. The government funding does help by getting the needs and services that the local students. However, the special needs classes are drastically underfunded. We have kids who are learning how to tie shoes and social constructs and at the same time learning the basics. This funding will get them new assistive writing tools, calming light covers, pencils both color and basic. They have a student store in our class that uses points like money so they can learn about having money and how to save up or not. I have a few boxes of small toys for the store so they will want to practice correct behaviors. With your help we can change the lives of some kids who really need a little extra help not only for this year but for many years to come. Thank you for your time, K Johnson
