Because of your generosity, my space has been transformed into a more engaging, accessible, and supportive environment for student learning.\r\n\r\nThe addition of posters, charts, and cue cards has significantly enhanced the way students interact with social-emotional content. These visual tools provide clear and consistent reinforcement of key concepts, coping strategies, and essential vocabulary. Students are no longer relying solely on verbal instruction—they now have tangible, visible reminders that help them better understand and retain what they learn during our sessions.\r\n\r\nSince implementing these supports, I have observed a noticeable increase in student engagement and participation. Students are more likely to reference strategies independently, use appropriate language to express their emotions, and apply learned skills in real-time. The visuals serve as immediate prompts, reducing confusion and helping students feel more confident in navigating their thoughts and behaviors.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, these supports have been especially impactful for students who benefit from structured, visual learning environments. They are able to access information more easily, which has improved their ability to stay focused, process information, and build independence over time.\r\n\r\nThis project has not only enhanced individual sessions but has also contributed to long-term skill development. Students are beginning to carry these strategies beyond my office—into their classrooms, peer interactions, and daily experiences—demonstrating growth in self-awareness, emotional regulation, and communication.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your support has had a meaningful and lasting impact on the students I serve, helping to create a space where they feel empowered to learn, grow, and succeed both academically and socially.","fullyFundedDate":1768253564266,"projectUrl":"project/creating-visual-aids-to-help-with-retent/9983095/","projectTitle":"Creating Visual Aids to Help With Retention of SEL Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Boone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3305808_orig.jpg?crop=2048,2048,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764701983910","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3305808"},{"teacherId":2646499,"projectId":9688984,"letterContent":"The students were really excited to get notebooks. A lot of them like to write. I believe that when students see themselves rewarded, it boosts their confidence. They were really excited about the stickers and the cups. It has been a process to think of items that will appeal to this newer generation. I was truly taken aback by their excitement and overall thrill to receive the items. The stuffed animals were a great accent along with the straw decor. \r\n\r\nThere was one particular class that was celebrated that had all students meet or exceed their goals for the assessment. It was a rush of energy when I made the announcement about everyone getting a surprise. This class is diverse in learners and demographics. I was beyond proud to share in the process of allowing them to select. Each one found something that spoke to them. Using our new color printer, I am able to print lessons from our i-Ready Toolbox in full color and tailor them specifically to each student based on their lowest area from the i-Ready diagnostic. This means every student is working on exactly what they need, with visuals and color coding that make concepts clearer and easier to follow. For students with special needs, these visual supports are not just helpful, they are essential for understanding and retention.\r\n\r\nEach student now has a personal Math Success Binder filled with their individualized lessons, organized neatly using sheet protectors. This has been especially exciting for my students because they can clearly see their work, track their progress, and revisit materials whenever they need support. Many of my students have shared that math feels less overwhelming and more manageable because they can follow the steps and refer back to their guides independently.\r\n\r\nIn addition, we have been able to celebrate student achievement in a meaningful way. I have printed over 50 colorful i-Ready certificates for our class of 20 students, recognizing milestones such as passing 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 lessons, reaching 50 percent and full typical annual growth by midyear, and advancing to Elevate lessons. These certificates are proudly displayed in a hallway near our math classroom, creating a space where students can see their hard work recognized and valued. For many of my students, this public celebration has been incredibly motivating and has encouraged them to continue pushing themselves.\r\n\r\nThis project not only met our goals, it transformed how my students access, organize, and feel about math. Students who once hesitated to attempt multi step problems are now more willing to try, knowing they have the tools to support them. Your support has helped create a classroom where learning is organized, accessible, and empowering. These small tools are creating big shifts in how students manage frustration, anxiety, and peer conflict.\r\n\r\nBeyond the immediate calm they provide, these resources are helping students build lifelong skills in self-awareness, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy. Each morning, students choose a regulation option that helps them feel ready to learn—some use the trampoline for grounding movement, others take a calming moment in the spinning chair, and several settle onto the soft rug before we begin morning meeting. One particularly meaningful moment happened during a literacy lesson when a student who often struggles to stay focused used the vibrating pillow while reading. With that support, he remained engaged for the entire activity and proudly contributed to our discussion. These tools aren't just equipment—they're helping students access learning with confidence and joy.\r\n\r\nTheir excitement was incredible. Students immediately gravitated toward the rug, feeling its texture and stretching out on it with smiles. When the spinning chair was unboxed, one student exclaimed, \"Is this really for us?\"—and another eagerly asked if they could help assemble it. In fact, several students jumped in to help put together both the trampoline and the swing chair, turning it into a collaborative, pride-filled moment. Once everything was ready, the trampoline became an instant favorite. Their reactions made it clear that they felt seen and supported.\r\n\r\nNow that students have these vital sensory supports, our next steps focus on building independence with emotional regulation during academic tasks. We're practicing how to identify which tool their body needs during reading, math, and writing workshops, and when to use the calm corner routine we've built around the rug, swing chair, fidgets, and oral sensory tools. Students are learning how to choose a tool, regulate safely, and then rejoin their work with focus and confidence. These resources are helping us move closer to our long-term goal: empowering students to understand their sensory needs, advocate for themselves, and thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.","fullyFundedDate":1764790330118,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-calming-and-safe-space-for-my/9712736/","projectTitle":"Creating a Calming and Safe Space for my Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Padilla","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9772123_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757779275732","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9772123"},{"teacherId":9285856,"projectId":8299844,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of additional supplies to John Francis Education Campus. Your thoughtfulness and continued support have had a powerful and immediate impact on our students, teachers, and entire school community.\r\n\r\nThe highlighters you provided truly brought our lessons to life. In our non-fiction reading units, students were excited to actively engage with texts as they searched for key details, identified main ideas, and made important connections. Something as simple as a highlighter became a tool for confidence, focus, and participation, helping students feel successful and motivated in their learning. These moments of engagement are essential in building strong literacy skills and fostering a love of reading.\r\n\r\nBeyond the classroom instruction, the extra supplies played a vital role in helping our students settle into the new school year. Many of our students face challenges that extend beyond the classroom, and having access to the proper materials helps create a sense of stability, preparedness, and belonging. Because of your generosity, students were able to start the year feeling equipped, supported, and ready to learn alongside their peers.\r\n\r\nYour donation also provided meaningful support to our teachers, allowing them to focus more fully on instruction rather than worrying about limited resources. When classrooms are well supplied, teachers can plan more engaging lessons, meet the diverse needs of their students, and create learning environments where every child has the opportunity to thrive. Your contribution has strengthened our ability to do just that.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your support sends a powerful message to our students: that they are valued, that their education matters, and that there are people beyond our school walls who care deeply about their success. This encouragement makes a lasting impression and inspires students to take pride in their work and their school community.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for your continued partnership and commitment to John Francis Education Campus.
