Their excitement was immediate the moment they saw everything—we had smiles, wide eyes, and lots of eager hands ready to dive in. The stress balls and fidget toys were a huge hit for the students and their classroom teachers-I have given them to so many children, many of whom are not even on my caseload! \r\n\r\nPlay-Doh is always fun, but due to the plethora of illnesses that one finds in elementary schools, sharing items is not always a good idea. The huge shipment of Play-Doh made it possible for each student to have their own jars. Having something to manipulate makes the hard work of improving their speech and language skills more enjoyable (and their attention is better!)\r\n\r\nThe puppets have quickly become a favorite in our room. Even my quietest students have begun using them to act out stories, practice conversational turns, and share thoughts they typically keep inside. I've already heard some creative dialogue and seen moments of connection I don't believe would have happened without these new materials. We started by using the games during small group rotations, and it's been amazing to watch students collaborate, problem-solve, and even teach one another as they play. One special moment was during a science review game: a group of students who usually hesitate to raise their hands in class were suddenly leading their teammates with confidence, applying what they had learned in a fun and engaging way.\r\n\r\nThe games have made reviewing math and science concepts much more interactive. Instead of worksheets, students are practicing skills through play, and it's building not only their content knowledge but also teamwork and communication skills.\r\n\r\nAs next steps, we will continue using the games as part of our weekly review sessions, especially to reinforce decimals, fractions, and science inquiry skills.
