A lot of my students are reading below grade level and need extra support to become more proficient readers. I implemented a hour, called power hour, that is used to work with my low readers in small groups. The books on cd will let my students listen to stories, while the following along in the matching story books. The shelve units will also help me to separate my leveled readers and let the students easily find books at their level. Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.2.1 Determine the meaning of words and phrases in a text relevant to a grade 2 topic or subject area. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.2.2
