My Deaf and Hard of Hearing students were beyond excited when they first saw the new lights. The moment we turned them on, the entire atmosphere of the room changed. Students immediately commented on how \"cool,\" and \"relaxing\" the classroom felt. For many of my students, harsh fluorescent lighting can be overstimulating and distracting, so having softer, adjustable lighting has already made a noticeable difference in their comfort, focus, and ability to communicate with one another throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWe now use the different lighting options intentionally during lessons and activities. Softer lighting helps create a calm environment during reading, small group instruction, and independent work, while brighter colors can help energize students during movement breaks, celebrations, and interactive learning activities. Because my students rely heavily on visual communication and staying visually engaged throughout the school day, creating a supportive sensory environment is incredibly important. The new lighting has helped make our classroom feel like a safe and welcoming space where students can focus on learning without unnecessary sensory strain.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students more than just lights — you have helped create an environment designed with their unique needs in mind. We are continuing to build classroom routines and learning experiences that support communication, self-regulation, and engagement, and these resources are already playing a huge role in that success. Thank you for helping my students feel seen, supported, and excited to learn each day!","fullyFundedDate":1770666509322,"projectUrl":"project/lighting-the-way-for-brighter-learning/9812036/","projectTitle":"Lighting the Way for Brighter Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Molly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6490383_orig.jpg?crop=1170,1170,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759938004983","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-mollysclassroom"},{"teacherId":2311312,"projectId":9811777,"letterContent":"Thanks to you we now have the materials to be able to do some basic teaching and care.
