Your gift has allowed me to reward my students' positive choices this entire school year. \r\nMy students work in teams to encourage academic focus, appropriate choices and respect toward adults and peers. It is wonderful to see how the students change throughout the year. They arrive without really knowing how to cooperate and help each other succeed. By the end of the year they learn how to work together without harsh words or unkindness. \r\nEach team always receives a prize, but the team with the top points gets to choose first. Of course each student has their favorite prizes but if they do not get to choose that favorite one week, it gives them an incentive to work towards for the next week. \r\nAgain, my class and I are sincerely grateful. We've integrated these materials directly into our daily health and wellness curriculum, using the practical supplies to demonstrate the importance of habits like proper handwashing and dental care. The immediate impact has been a noticeable increase in student engagement during our health lessons and a newfound confidence in their ability to maintain their own personal hygiene routines.\r\nThe initial reaction from my students when the materials were unveiled was a mix of surprise and excitement. They were particularly drawn to the colorful towels and body wash. The excitement was palpable as students were handed their hygiene kits.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the students are eager to apply their new knowledge to the next steps of our project on hygiene essentials. We will be building on the foundational skills we have learned by exploring \"germ hot spots\" in the classroom using germ indicator powder to visualize the necessity of our new cleaning routines. Following that, students will collaborate on creating an \"essential hygiene guide\" for younger students in the school. The guide will feature best practices and tips they have learned, empowering them to become advocates for health and wellness within our school community. This project will allow them to synthesize their learning and share their knowledge in a meaningful way.","fullyFundedDate":1762550559089,"projectUrl":"project/hygiene-essentials-for-refugee-and-immig/9857755/","projectTitle":"Hygiene Essentials for Refugee and Immigrant English Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Fox","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4816874_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1506654151734","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4816874"},{"teacherId":7050567,"projectId":9236895,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation! I can't begin to describe how much the students LOVE the books. Everyone wants to read every book so we've had to carefully take turns so the books survive from one reader to the next. \r\n\r\nThese books are part of a series that the students requested so students are very engaged in reading. There are even times I've had to remind students to stop reading because we are working in Science, Math, etc . . . It's a great \"problem\" to have in the classroom. \r\n\r\nYour donation has had a huge impact on my students and their independent reading. My students really appreciate all the items! The folders are colorful and sturdy. So far, they have survived being brought in and out of desks throughout the day. The folders have also made it easier to house extra writing paper and allow each student to create a colorful label. The front plastic pouch will also allow me to reuse the folders next year. \r\n\r\nThe index cards have allowed students to easily organize vocabulary and keep their usernames and passwords secure. I have been able to laminate them so they can better withstand the daily use in the classroom and daily trips home for extra practice. \r\n\r\nI have been able to use the highlighters in small groups every day.
