These are big, culminating projects where students are pulling everything together—planning, organizing, and writing an informational piece, and then using visuals to turn it into something really engaging. The color photos make the whole project pop, and it really ends up being a highlight of the year.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, especially with so many multilingual learners, visuals matter so much. In the beginning of the year, my K/1 classroom did not even have a functioning board for us to read messages off of, create charts together, or even do phonics work with. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the brand new whiteboard, they were so excited. They could tell it was something special right away. Since then, this board has been so helpful in my small, space limited classroom.\r\n\r\nI am able to store my poster paper with ease, organize my phonics work, and create anchor charts with ease. As ordinary as it seems, having a functioning, eye-level whiteboard has helped my students so much during whole-group learning. They can engage much more while on the carpet, and I have loved seeing my Kindergarteners \"play teacher\" with our whiteboard, reteaching lessons during play time with their friends. \r\n\r\nWe also received manipulatives for the English letter sounds, and that has been so helpful for my ML students. They are working on differentiating between Spanish and English letter sounds, which can be confusing at times.
