Many of my students are having a hard time staying focused during independent reading times due to a variety of reasons. Being in an open concept school, noise is inevitable. With the earmuffs, students can better focus on tasks without the distractions. Additionally, the under chair bands will help my fidgety friends maintain focus during lessons and independent reading times. Currently, students need to carry their chairs over to the small group tables for reading groups. Getting chairs would provide seats for my small group table and alternative seating around the room. Finally, I have a variety of books listed which some of my kids have been asking me to buy for them. When the books are high interest, their focus and ability to retain information is heightened.
