I teach a group of wonderful, hard working students at an urban elementary school in Washington State. Many of my students are recent immigrants from places like Mexico, Somalia, Vietnam, China, and the Philippines, and the majority are still learning English as a second or third language. Our school is a warm, inviting place with a community of amazing teachers, support staff, and families devoted to the success of our students. Sadly, like most schools across the nation, budget cuts keep us from funding items that would greatly benefit these future leaders of our country.
