Thanks to your generous support, we enjoyed a unique classroom project in which students designed and constructed their own felt masks using conductive thread and LED lights. This activity brought engineering, art, and collaboration together in ways our students hadn't done before. They were so proud of their final products! \r\n\r\nStudents had to design their masks using only a basic mask outline. Then they had to research basic electrical circuits and learn about parallel circuits. Many were challenged with the hand sewing of the conductive thread- it was fun to see them problem solve! In the end, they had a light-up felt mask just in time for Halloween. I am excited to repeat this project with my next semester class.","fullyFundedDate":1760748394394,"projectUrl":"project/wearable-circuitry-in-stem/9826206/","projectTitle":"Wearable Circuitry in STEM!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Scott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1778026_orig.jpg?crop=683,683,x0,y111&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704752114943","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1778026"},{"teacherId":1778026,"projectId":9683255,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your generous donation to my classroom! BreakOutEdu is a fun way to engage students in the curriculum. Plus, it helps them learn problem-solving skills that are useful across all content. The lock of the day feature is a good way to engage their critical thinking skills in a short amount of time, plus it teaches them the process for the longer, extended BreakOuts. \r\n\r\nI also have 6 of the physical BreakOut kits, so students have access to even more game options, several of which are hands-on with the lock kits. My students are always excited to solve a BreakOut, and particularly enjoy working with a partner. Some students struggle with abstract thinking, so when they work with a partner, they can feel success and start to look at puzzles differently. My Curiosity class is for gifted and talented students to do student choice projects. It is essential that I can provide creative outlets for these students, and the XTool M1 is the perfect example. I also have a student designing a puzzle of a family picture to be given as a Mother's Day gift. It's fun to see what my students can come up with!
