Because of your kindness, my students have been able to explore weaving through a variety of engaging, hands-on activities. My first graders used the paper strips provided with the grant to have their very first experience with weaving, while my 3rd–5th graders reviewed their skills by creating paper weavings right in their sketchbooks. Our art club took things a step further by using the basket looms to design and create one-of-a-kind gifts for their families. One especially meaningful moment was seeing students proudly share their finished pieces, excited by what they were able to create with their own hands.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the reaction was pure excitement. Students were mesmerized by the wide variety of weaving materials—colorful yarns, raffia, roving wool, and more. They couldn't wait to explore the different textures and colors. Our younger artists used the plastic canvas to practice weaving and threading, strengthening their fine motor skills as I introduced basic sewing with chenille stems and large buttons. The classroom was filled with curiosity, creativity, and joy as students experimented and discovered new techniques.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue building on these foundational skills by exploring more complex weaving patterns and incorporating mixed materials into their work. We plan to expand into small collaborative projects and connect our learning to cultural traditions in fiber arts. Your support has opened the door to meaningful creative experiences, and we are so grateful for the opportunity you've given our students to learn, create, and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1769177458680,"projectUrl":"project/weaving-wonder-lab-hands-on-textile-art/9917155/","projectTitle":"Weaving Wonder Lab: Hands-On Textile Art for Creative Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fort","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8488511_orig.jpg?crop=1377,1377,x0,y50&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717971204995","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8488511"},{"teacherId":9019194,"projectId":9766730,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom feels more comfortable and focused with flexible seating options like lap trays, stadium seats, and scoop rocker chairs. \r\n\r\nStudents were thrilled to try the new choices and immediately settled into reading and writing in places that work best for them.
