The students that I work with recently went through their former school district being closed and overtook by my district. When we took over there was a huge deficit in scores for standardized tests as well as in core content areas. The thing that is most common is the fact that the students are struggling with being able to actually connect to the information. Most of them cannot read, and there are some who have problems with understanding the English language. However, the students are showing a honest interest in wanting to learn the information.
