Pickleball is the new craze right now and there are so many badminton nets that pop up over the summer that we wanted to ensure our students knew the skills and the general rules of play for both games. Were they excited to see the shipments of new badminton racquets, pickleball paddles, nets and the birdies and pickleballs show up!\r\n\r\nWe are using some of this equipment to work more in depth with 3-5th grade students on pickleball during our monthly WERD clubs and we are also slowly introducing hitting the birdie and basic striking with the badminton racquets with all of our students. There is a lot of coordination needed at this age to drop and strike so that is where our focus is for the shot term. We are looking forward to having these nets and games set up during free play later this year to encourage pick up games like they will encounter over the summer.
