The zipper pouches, colored tape, pencils, dry erase markers, and erasers have helped me organize materials for different activities and small groups so that we can quickly grab what we need and get to work.\r\n\r\nOne of my students' favorite additions has actually been the teacher stamps! My students love helping in the morning by stamping homework books, and it has become a fun little part of our morning routine. They get excited to have a classroom job while also helping me get organized for the day.\r\n\r\nThe timers have also been especially helpful this year. I have a student who benefits from built-in breaks throughout the school day when he is having a challenging time. Being able to set the timer gives him a clear amount of time to take a break, regulate himself, and then know when it is time to return to his work. I am able to buy material for our intervention program to supplement when students need more time on the skill. First grade is blue and second grade is purple. It is a great alternative and helps develop motor skills, rhythm and spatial awareness, and balance. The velcro catch paddles are a great way for students to find a friend to toss a ball with instead of playing basketball with a bunch of students. I am happy that there are alternatives at recess to fit everyone's needs. Thank you for accommodating my students with the needed materials. They all want to have a turn at the cool down area. They were thrilled to receive the school supplies in September. Many of them still have not had the materials they needed and were borrowing from my \"extra supplies\" bin. Now they all have the same supplies needed to succeed in second grade. The bins to hold their supplies is the icing on the cake! I love how all their supplies are organized in bins and stored out of their desk. Many times throughout the day their crayons or markers were rolling out of their desk and students were taking out their scissors and cutting up paper in their desk. Thanks to the bins, there are no more distractions!\r\n\r\nThe crayons, colored pencils, markers, scissors, and glue are used everyday for activities in small group which involves coloring, cutting, and gluing. These activities are engaging, educational, and helpful for their fine motor skills and finger dexterity. I am helping students in small group how to cut on the lines, hold the scissors correctly, and how to use glue properly. Sometimes it is a big sticky mess. Second grade is the best time for them to become independent, but they need to be taught the proper way to do these things on their own. I love working with my students and seeing them grow into independent learners.
