This wasn't just \"school work\"—it was a gift that made them feel welcomed and valued, offering a non-intimidating way to engage with new academic concepts.\r\n\r\nWe are already putting the resources to incredible use. A specific and powerful moment occurred recently when we used the Zingo! Bingo Numbers & Counting Game. These students often struggle with rapid number identification in English, but the tactile nature of the Zingo! tiles and the immediate feedback of the game made it click. One student, who usually hesitates during math activities, shouted \"Zingo!\" after matching the number seven. The pride on their face was immense; they weren't just counting—they were successfully participating in an English-language game for the first time. Simultaneously, we've used Words Over Easy and Scattergories The Card Games to inject joy into vocabulary acquisition, allowing students to practice quick word retrieval without the pressure of formal writing.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has built a foundation for fun, functional learning in our classroom. As a next step, we are currently working on strategy and problem-solving. We will be transitioning to using Make 7 and Quirkle next week. These games require pattern recognition, sequencing, and critical thinking, building upon the basic vocabulary and number sense they gained from Zingo! and Memory Match. The goal is to move from simple recognition to complex application, using these engaging games to make abstract STEM concepts concrete and collaborative.
