As educators, we have the power to instill culturally responsive teaching, or cultural intelligence in education, that helps create a learning environment that is engaging and accessible to a broader range of students. As a teacher in today’s multicultural classroom, fostering culturally responsive teaching is imperative to understand achievement gaps as well as cultural and linguistic differences. We live in a multiracial world, in which the nature and consequences of racism are in a state of unpredictability, therefore empowering our cultural understanding with these books will help resolve potential cultural differences between students in the classroom.
