With your help, I have been able to print out materials that align with our curriculum IN COLOR!!! By having access to color printing, my students are able to engage more with the text by being able to SEE what is going on in pictures more clearly, attention is kept better because they are drawn to the colors, more descriptive wording can be asked pertaining to activities, for example, rather than \"find the star\", we can say, \"find the YELLOW star\". This way we are not just reiterating shape identification but also colors. With the new curriculum, I am able to print out materials, in color, laminate them and reuse them now that I have laminating sheets as well! Thank you! This way I am not wasting the colored ink that was just donated! (See this vicious cycle??) \r\nTo most students, these are just tasks that they must complete, however, to others, activities in color are tasks that are exciting, engaging, and a vibrant way of interacting with something new. The classroom environment is more relaxing. My students loved the Social Studies curriculum and the comfortable space in the classroom. The curriculum provided us with many hands on projects that we used along with the district ELA curriculum. \r\n One of the projects the students had to complete was about Native American Inventions. Where would we be if the Native Americans had not been in America? The students had to research Native American Inventions and choose one to present to the class. Once students chose an invention, they had to research more information about the invention, what was it used for, what was it made from, and what gender role invented it. After gathering all information, they had to create an advertisement for the invention. They were able to make a poster, create a powerpoint/google slide presentation or a animated commercial. They had to make a replica of the invention using natural resources, nothing bought in the store, to display. \r\n We set up stations and the students displayed their projects and presentations and we had a fair in the hallway and other students came around to ask questions and see the displays.
