My students do not have a Social Studies Curriculum. I am trying to expose my students to not only their history but also current events that will have a lasting impact on their lives. I want my students to to be exposed to literature that they can relate to and that interest them. I have tried to choose a variety of books that will both inspire my students to take a stand in what they believe in and also entertain them! Students often times have textbooks in front of them that are outdated, in poor condition and non-relatable! I believe that having this library will foster their desire to read and help improve their independent reading levels and encourage reading comprehension.
