The students have LOVED utilizing the materials this year. The sand and trays have been a favorite of my early childhood students. They want to feel the texture of the sand while writing and drawing. The feeling of the grains rolling around support their understanding of what is happening when their fingers are moving in the ways they want them to, and ways they don't. \r\nHowever, their favorite this year has been the game Blah, Blah, Blah. Once I introduced it to them, every age wanted to play it EVERY DAY! It is played similarly to Uno, in which there is matching but to sounds instead of colors. There are also reverse, draw 2/4 card, and skip-style cards which added to the fun. Blah, Blah, Blah taught sounds and reading words, but games teach turn-taking, strategizing, and social skills.
