My students speak different languages in our classroom. Some of my students speak English and others Spanish. The books I chose for our classroom are bilingual. Studies have shown that teaching students English as a Second Language and encouraging first language speaking and reading in classroom increases students learning. My hope is for my students to increase their vocabulary in both languages of English and Spanish. Some of my students are in what is called the quiet stage of learning the English language. I believe these new additions to our classroom library will increase their desire to read the books with their partners during literacy centers and begin to speak their new language. Your donation to this project will give my students the literature they need to succeed in learning to read and write.
