Fluency Centers Made Fun! My students are in need of engaging activities for my Reading/Literacy Centers that will help with comprehension and fluency skills for various levels of reading. My Classroom: My students live in a poverty stricken area and our school daily receives free breakfast and lunch. I work hard to give my students a safe, comfortable, enjoyable classroom environment that promotes achievement in learning. I take my role in instructing very serious for these students are our future and the age I teach is so eager to learn. It is important for me to build a strong foundation and relationship with my students for I'm impacting their lives every day and it needs to be a positive impact. My Project: Emphasizing the importance of reading and stressing to students to continue to read, read, read every day is very crucial in developing and continuing to improve their levels of comprehension and fluency skills. By acquiring the Hot Dots! tools my students will have a diverse, alternative method for practicing those comprehension, sequencing, and fluency skills through interactive learning. The literacy cubes will also provide an engaging, interactive approach for students to use higher-level thinking when prompted to give information about stories including sequence of events, character traits, main ideas, etc. Both activities will require students to analyze and use critical thinking skills when reading stories and articles while providing them with hands-on work that will keep them engaged.
