We have used them during our literacy block to practice phonics, phonemic awareness, sight words, and other important reading skills. My students love being able to grab a task box and work on an activity independently, and the colorful, hands-on activities help make practicing these skills more fun and engaging.\r\nOne of my favorite things about these task boxes is how many different ways I can use them. They have been used during literacy centers, small-group instruction, interventions, morning work, and for students who finish their work early. Because the activities cover different skills and levels, I can choose task boxes that give students practice with the specific skills they are working on.\r\nWe will continue using these task boxes throughout the year as we learn new skills and build on the ones we have already learned. I can also change out and add new activities as my students' needs change, which makes these a resource I will be able to use with my first graders for many years to come. My students especially enjoy being able to use the hands-on materials as we practice the skills we are learning.\r\n\r\nThese resources have made our small-group lessons more engaging and given my students different ways to practice skills that can sometimes be difficult. I love being able to pull out the materials that best fit what a particular group of students needs and give them additional hands-on practice.\r\n\r\nWe will continue using these resources during small groups and interventions as my students build their reading skills throughout the year.
