In Third grade, my students learn many new difficult skills, and reading and vocabulary are among the toughest. We are requesting Match and Sort cards which will be an engaging way for the students to keep learning in small groups and centers. These boxes have sets for some of our most difficult skills like grammar, cause and effect, making inferences, prefixes and suffixes, phonics skills, and more. The phonics box will especially help those students who struggle with reading. It will help them practice the skills they need to improve. They will help get students help on topics that they are not understanding in a way that is engaging. The context clues box will help the students gain the skills necessary to figure out the meaning of new words as they read. As they improve with these skills, their reading will improve, and if their reading improves, it will overflow into all other areas of school!
