It was fun to introduce this new tool and also showcase an upcoming unit of study — recycling!\r\n\r\nAs a large, urban school with limited resources, being able to teach and demonstrate reusing and repurposing cardboard boxes into art projects has been both gratifying and economical.\r\n\r\nThe chomp saw has also led to collaboration and cooperation with older students assisting younger students in using the tool. \r\n\r\nI look forward to many projects using recycled materials and creativity for students to explore art, architecture, and building ideas. Snacks have made a tremendous difference for our students, especially during clubs and lunchtime. Having easy access to food helps students stay focused, energized, and ready to fully participate in activities after school and throughout the day. During club meetings, snacks create a welcoming and comfortable environment where students can relax, connect with peers, and engage more actively in discussions and projects. It may seem simple, but providing a small snack often leads to greater participation, stronger collaboration, and a more positive overall experience.\r\n\r\nDuring lunch, snacks have been equally impactful. For many students, having something extra ensures they are satisfied and better able to concentrate in their afternoon classes. It removes distractions caused by hunger and supports their overall well-being. Beyond nourishment, offering snacks shows students that they are cared for and supported. This small gesture goes a long way in helping them feel valued, prepared, and ready to succeed both academically and socially.","fullyFundedDate":1769363623366,"projectUrl":"project/wrapped-in-care-winter-support-for-our/10054842/","projectTitle":"Wrapped in Care: Winter Support for Our Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Liu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9085453_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x125,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696816426898","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9085453"},{"teacherId":9085453,"projectId":9828805,"letterContent":"We are sincerely grateful to our generous donors for providing materials to support our STEM projects. For many students, this was their first opportunity to use industry-standard equipment, and it immediately elevated their engagement and confidence. Middle and high school students learned not just how to fry foods or make pasta from scratch, but why technique, temperature control, timing, and safety matter. Concepts like oil management, proper frying procedures, dough development, and consistency came to life in a way that textbooks or videos simply cannot replicate.\r\n\r\nBeyond the technical skills, these experiences had a deeper effect on students' lives. Students took pride in creating foods completely from scratch and began to see themselves as capable, skilled, and creative individuals. For some, it sparked a new interest in culinary careers; for others, it built life skills they can take home to their families, learning how to prepare food safely, economically, and with care. The equipment helped bridge the gap between school and the real world, showing students that their learning has value beyond the classroom.
