Your kindness and belief in our students have made a meaningful and lasting impact on our classroom.\r\nIn AP Psychology, we often study Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs—and thanks to you, my students are now experiencing it in action. You have helped ensure that essential needs like warmth, nourishment, and emotional support are met, allowing students to move beyond basic survival and truly engage in higher-level thinking.\r\nMany of my students come to class ready to learn but are sometimes held back by factors beyond their control—feeling cold, hungry, or overwhelmed. With the blankets, healthy snacks, journals, and hand warmers you've provided, they now have access to comfort, care, and emotional outlets that make a real difference in their daily lives.\r\nThis winter in New Jersey was especially harsh, and the hand warmers proved invaluable for my students who walk to and from school. Being able to warm their hands after arriving in freezing temperatures helped them physically settle in more quickly and feel cared for the moment they entered the classroom. Just as importantly, students were able to take hand warmers with them when they left, giving them comfort and support on their walk home as well. This simple gesture extended the care beyond our classroom and made a meaningful difference in their daily experience.\r\nBecause of you:\r\n\r\nStudents can warm up physically and feel more comfortable in the classroom\r\nWalkers can recover from the cold and stay warm on their way home\r\nThey have access to nutritious snacks that help improve their focus and memory\r\nThey are learning to process their thoughts and emotions through journaling, building resilience and mental clarity\r\n\r\nThese small but powerful supports help create a classroom where students feel safe, valued, and ready to take on the challenges of AP-level work. You've not only supported their academic success—you've also supported their well-being.\r\nYour generosity reminds our students that there are people who care deeply about their success and believe in their potential. That message is just as important as any lesson we teach.\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for helping make our classroom a place where every student can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1770083257041,"projectUrl":"project/warmth-care-cognition-meeting-needs-t/10065676/","projectTitle":"Warmth, Care, Cognition: Meeting Needs to Power AP Psychology Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Grom","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/187107"},{"teacherId":6130972,"projectId":10188847,"letterContent":"This project has made a meaningful impact on my students' learning experience every single day in our classroom. Students have greatly appreciated the snacks, toiletry items, and winter accessories. These supplies have helped students focus and come to school. They have even improved our classroom environment because they have helped the students feel more comfortable in the classroom. \r\n\r\nMany of the winter accessories have not been claimed because the climate has been so crazy. In April, it felt like summer, then it was freezing again, and now it is extremely hot again. Some students were able to benefit from the hats, gloves, and gators this year, but I will save the rest for next winter.\r\n\r\nThe toiletry items are used every day. Girls have been appreciative when they unexpectedly needed a pad or tampon. Students are constantly grabbing deodorants, wipes, hair ties, and bandaids. Former students and friends of my students now know that they can access these supplies in my classroom also, which means you have helped more students than predicted.\r\n\r\nAs for the snacks, they are all gone. I rationed them out over the last 10 weeks or so. I only filled up the basket on Mondays, and there was never anything left by Friday. In fact, many weeks the basket was empty by Wednesday.
