Technology is everywhere in education; my students have access to it in every classroom and I'd like to bring it to physical education. As a teacher, it's my job to inspire and educate my students on a variety of things. A new initiative I would like to start and work on with my students would be promoting a healthy lifestyle.
By using an iPad and Apple Watch together this allows kids to track and then monitor their health and fitness goals together. My students and I can use a variety of apps to graph their goals over the course of the semester so they can see how living a healthy life can improve their overall well being.
The iPad Air will allow us to record, analyze and research high-quality videos to improve different techniques during a variety of exercises. We can take before and after photos throughout the semester so students can see their progress. Most importantly we can pair the data taken from student sessions while they wear the Apple Watch onto the iPad so students can see graphs of their progress and keep track of movements during each class.
Students will take turns wearing the Apple Watch throughout the semester during a class period. Heart rate, steps, and workouts will all be tracked and calculated during each session. The cool thing about having students try the Apple watch is we can track their heart rate and activity levels during a variety of activities such as in the pool, doing the pacer test, playing in an activity, or walking at a steady pace.
