My bilingual students rely on their Spanish-English dictionaries for reading and writing every day. Unfortunately, mine are old and the pages are falling out. My school was not able to fund us with these essential tools that my English Language Learners (ELL's) need for success. Our bilingual dictionaries from years ago are worn and torn. These days my students are sharing dictionaries, which is not is easy when they're sought after by every student. For many ELL's, it's their lifeline to write or work independently. New students arrive every month, and they do not speak English. It's crucial that they have an individual, reliable dictionary on their desk to aid them in reading and writing.
